Xcode: Depends on the language? Not any more. When I first wrote this post in April 2016, I said, “AppCode is still not ready for effective Swift coding.” But now I live in AppCode for Swift development. Xcode, CLion, Android Studio, Visual Studio, and IntelliJ IDEA are the most popular alternatives and competitors to AppCode. "IOS Development" is the primary reason why developers choose Xcode.

As of AppCode 3, storyboard editing is possible, but I haven’t made the switch to AppCode for my storyboarding needs. Lastly, I still need Xcode to archive applications. Even project settings were kept to a minimum ( last time I Now that Jetbrains has released Appcode 3, I was curious about the subreddits opinion on it. Does it provide an overall better experience than Xcode? AppCode is phenomenal for working on Objective-C.
But in Xcode 11 there is a new section inside the project's build settings called Versioning. And CFBundleShortVersionString automatically changed to $(MARKETING_VERSION). Xcode automatically handles that and I don't want to change it manually to an static number and let Xcode do it's work.

I can't even imagine doing iOS dev without it now. You'd still be using IB on xcode but you don't 3 Jan 2018 I've figured out how to get it working well enough, and there's no point switching tool sets unless there's a massive net benefit (AppCode and VS AppCode vs. Xcode for tweak development?
